(Taipei, Taiwan – August 22, 2025) AAEON (Stock Code: 6579) has introduced a software-driven EtherCAT service for its OMNI-ADP series, a family of modular HMI Panel PCs. By working with IntervalZero’s KINGSTAR EtherCAT master stack, AAEON enables precise motion synchronization and deterministic I/O communication without relying on additional hardware such as PLC controllers or motion control cards.
The OMNI-ADP series currently features 10 models, with display sizes ranging from 10.4 inches to 27 inches. Each unit is equipped with 12th Gen Intel® Core™ processors, projected capacitive touchscreens, and a wide set of industrial interfaces, making them well-suited for advanced manufacturing environments.
Key points of the new solution include:
Hardware-free EtherCAT support directly on Panel PCs
Compatibility with servo motors, digital I/O devices, and CNC machines
Lower system costs by removing EtherCAT cards and PLC controllers
Improved synchronization for automated inspection, laser processing, PCB manufacturing, and robotic control
The benefits are especially clear in three core markets: semiconductor production, electronics manufacturing, and machine automation. By running real-time extensions in Windows, the system achieves predictable communication cycles, which are essential for tasks like optical inspection, laser cutting, and robotics. For equipment makers, the reduced need for dedicated motion hardware also lowers the overall cost of ownership.
Ethan Chiu, Product Manager at AAEON, explained that combining the reliability of OMNI-ADP hardware with software-based EtherCAT creates “compact, all-in-one controllers that help customers speed up industrial development and deployment.”
With this step, AAEON positions its OMNI-ADP series not only as powerful operator panels but also as complete control solutions capable of streamlining automation at scale.
